How idiotic society is! Why be given a body if you have to hide it away like a rare, rare fiddle?!" - Kathryn Mansfield.
Welcome to my website. I was born in Withington in Manchester, but now based in Brisbane in Australia.
I play guitar in the rock duo d-Wizz 2.0 and also frontman for my own solo band doing 70's glam rock, power pop, new wave and AOR inspired originals as well as some covers.
Additionally, I am working on a concept band called Laissez-Fayre, which is out to endorse the naturist approach to life to the under-40's rock and pop music markets.
EARLY FAMILY LIFE
My father Alan Western was a salesman throughout his working life, and was also self-employed as an entertainer doing cabaret pop and rock songs around the nightclubs in Manchester throughout the late 1960s till we emigrated to Brisbane in 1982. He also did amateur theatre acting with Brookdale Social Club as well as a production of The King & I for the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints in Brisbane in 1984. From 1990 till the present day, he has been involved with the Brisbane Jazz Club performing with the Brisbane Big Band, Decahedron and the jazz/pop trio Men About Town.
My mother Rowenna Western was a dressmaker when I lived in the UK, and then she became a music teacher when we emigrated. She is involved with a lot of charity work as well as helping my sister with some of her live shows.
I have a younger brother and sister called Lee and Melissa, both of whom were born in Withington. Lee works with Australian Laboratory Services, and has previously played trumpet, French horn, bass guitar and cello. Melissa is a professional jazz singer and former children's entertainer. She has two daughters Ella and Sasha who are burgeoning entertainers themselves.
I was raised in the Catholic faith by my mother, and attended Hollies RC College, Cheadle RC Primary, St. Agnes, Holy Cross and Padua College as a child and teenager. Where my faith is concerned, I live by James 1:27, which teaches: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." as well as: Matthew 25:35-40 "35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ "
